My First Year as a Co-Lead Advisor: Better Than I Imagined
When I joined the firm as a co-lead advisor, I had expectations shaped by the interview process, strong culture, thoughtful leadership, and a client-first mindset. What I didn’t expect was just how much those early impressions would be exceeded once I was actually in the seat.
From day one, the team felt warm, welcoming, and genuinely supportive. It didn’t take long for that to evolve into something that feels more like a family than a workplace. Everyone shows up for one another, professionally and personally, and that kind of environment is rare.
Shawn, the firm’s principal, and I aligned quickly, not just on investment philosophy, but on how clients should be treated. We share the belief that great advice starts with trust, clarity, and putting people first. That alignment created an energy and momentum that felt natural, and I truly believe our clients picked up on it. When advisors are in sync and passionate about what they do, it shows.
We work hard to deliver concierge service, but we also understand the importance of balance. Whether it’s a quick game of foosball, a round of HORSE, team lunches, or walking through downtown Willow Glen, there’s a rhythm here that allows us to reset, recharge, and enjoy each other as colleagues and friends, not just coworkers.
Looking back now, a little over a year in, I can confidently say that what I hoped this role would be and what it has become are worlds apart in the best possible way. This experience has exceeded every expectation I had going in. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a strong firm, surrounded by a team that genuinely cares, and to have found not only a great professional opportunity, but also a mentor in Shawn. It’s been a rewarding first year, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
